Joining Two Pieces Carpet Together
This tape is often used when joining two smaller pieces to form one larger carpet or area rug.
Joining two pieces carpet together. Then press the rugs together to make them appear as seamless as possible. Center a line of carpet seaming tape underneath the two cut edges of the two pieces of carpet with the adhesive side facing up. Arrange the two pieces of carpet you are joining so they are side by side in the room. Each piece of carpet you seam should be at least 4 feet 1 2 m wide. Line up the pattern of the other rug and lay the rugs as close together with the tape as you can. Using a single piece of tape for the entire seam helps to keep the seam tight.
Use one carpet style as a border and use a lighter or more simple carpet as the main field color for the room. The two pieces of carpet should overlap by 2 to 3 inches 5 to 7 6 cm when you lay them down. You can always fudge the rest a little if needed. Make sure you line up the edge of the carpet first.
Carpet seam tape is often used by designers to create an interesting and unique carpet. Unroll the two pieces of carpet you are piecing together so they are laying side by side. Place the carpet so that edges overlap 2 or 3 inches and that there are 2 to 3 inches of extra carpet along. Many carpet manufacturers put an arrow on.
By turning the carpeting with the backing facing up it is possible to align the sections and then apply a line of this one sided tape to join the two pieces. Define a conversation area in a living space by using a different color or texture of carpet much like a rug.
